A decade of dedication: Long Motor Co. donates 11th Volvo for Red Cross raffle

In addition to David Long Jr., many members of the Long family are active Red Cross volunteers and strong supporters of the Red Cross mission. In 2001, David Long of Long Motor Company began a decade-long relationship with the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey. Wanting to give back to the community and help those in need, Mr. Long generously offered to donate a Volvo as the winning vehicle for a Red Cross fundraiser. The first Red Cross car raffle was held in 2002 and Long Motor Company's generosity has continued to grow with each annual raffle. The 2012 Red Cross Raffle features the 11th Volvo automobile donated by Long Motor Company and Volvo Cars of North America for use as this year's raffle top prize.

"Long Motor Company's dedication to the Red Cross mission has been an immeasurable asset to our community," said Kevin Sullivan, regional chief executive officer with the American Red Cross. "Over the years, David Long's continuous support of the annual raffle has helped raise more than $1.5 million for Red Cross programs and services throughout central New Jersey."

"Thanks to the generous donation of prizes by Volvo, Long Motor Company, Miele and Continental Airlines, every $100 ticket purchased directly supports Red Cross programs in central New Jersey," said Mr. Sullivan.

Programs include Red Cross Disaster Services - responding to assist families displaced by home fires and other local disasters, providing emotional support and emergency assistance for lodging, food and clothing. Other programs include emergency preparedness education, services to military members and their families, and the School Safety Initiative, which brings the lifesaving skills of Red Cross First Aid and CPR to students in Central New Jersey schools.

The 2012 Red Cross Raffle will be held on June 9 at 7 p.m. at Miele Inc.’s Princeton Gallery in South Brunswick. A maximum of 2,000 tickets will be sold. You can buy tickets online at www.njredcross.org. Purchase five tickets for $500 and receive one ticket free. Order forms to fax or mail are also available online. Tickets can also be purchased in person at the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey as well as from staff and volunteers at venues throughout central New Jersey. Call 609-951-8550 and press “0″ for additional information. Ticket order forms are also available at Long Motor Company dealerships, including Volvo of Princeton, Bridgewater Volvo and Volvo of Edison.
